UCO Gets Back In Win Column In Texas

Bronchos Beat St. Edward's 78-74 In Overtime To Wrap Up River City Holiday Classic

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Central Oklahoma needed just five more minutes in San Antonio at the River City Holiday Classic and that's what it took to get a 78-74 win over St. Edward's.

Central Oklahoma improved to 5-5 overall on the season with the win, snapping a rare three-game losing streak.

The Bronchos needed five extra minutes after the game went to overtime tied, 65-65. JV Seat entered the extra period with zero points, but the junior guard hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the first two minutes of the extra period and Central Oklahoma took command to earn the win.

"I'm so happy for our guys, this was a big win for us," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "We needed to find a way to get a W, and we did it. We've been close, but haven't been able to win, and this was big for us. We have a ways to go, but tonight was a great win."

Central Oklahoma was led by Israel Hart, who knocked down a 3-pointer to tie the game, 65-65, with 30 seconds left in regulation. Hart finished with 21 points on 7 of 9 shooting.

Jacobi Sebock and Parker Hannah both scored 11 points and Jordan Thompson and Luke Haasl both scored nine. Seat hit one more 3-pointer in overtime and finished with nine points.

"I feel like Parker had the most energy on the floor tonight," Hoffman said. "He wants to be in that moment, and he did great tonight."

UCO shot just 41.0 percent in the game and went 12-for-31 from behind the 3-point line. UCO was 16-for-24 at the free-throw line Wednesday.

There were seven lead changes in the contest and 10 times the game was tied.

Central Oklahoma held an 11-point lead with 4:24 to play in the first half when Hart hit one of his three 3-pointers to give UCO a 31-20 lead. St. Edward's whittled the lead down to four points, 32-28, by halftime, then charged in front early in the second half.

SEU led by as many as six in the second half, but the Bronchos responded and held the same lead midway through. St. Edward's regained the lead yet again, 60-57, with 3:35 to play.

It was 62-57 with 2:27 left when Hart hit his second 3-pointer. Hart tied the game 62-62 with a layup with 1:43 left, then again 65-65 with another 3-pointer.

Hart would foul out on the first possession of overtime, but Seat and Co. took it from there.

Seat hit a pair of 3-pointers to make it a six-point game, 71-65, then a third 3-pointer to make it 74-70 with 1:53 left. Thompson added a floater off an offensive rebound and Hannah hit a pair of free-throws with 12 seconds left to ice the game.

Central Oklahoma returns to Edmond and to the court Sunday against Rogers State. The Bronchos host the Hillcats, who went 1-1 in San Antonio, Sunday at 3:30 p.m. inside Hamilton Field House.
