Bronchos Run Past USAO

Central Oklahoma Beats Science & Arts 87-51 Sunday Afternoon

EDMOND – Central Oklahoma never trailed in a runaway win over Science & Arts Sunday afternoon at Hamilton Field House where the Bronchos won 87-51 over the NAIA school from Chickasha.

UCO improved to 3-2 on the season with the win. USAO is 3-4.

Central Oklahoma's suffocating defense limited the Drovers to just 27.6 percent shooting on the night and the Bronchos forced a dozen turnovers in the effort.

Israel Hart led the way with 20 points while Jacobi Sebock and Parker Hannah each put up 10 points.

A 12-0 run in the first half put UCO in control. Leading 15-10, Matthew Willenborg found a cutting Luke Haasl in the lane for a layup to start the run. Hannah hit back-to-back 3-pointers before a Hart slam and a Haasl alley-oop from Jordan Thompson. The last of those plays, out of the under-10 media timeout, put UCO up 27-10.

USAO worked the deficit to nine points by halftime, 33-24, but a 13-0 run the early part of the second half put the Bronchos in control for good.

This time it started with an alley-oop by Haasl from Hart. Thompson and Sebock scored before Hart hit back-to-back jumpers, then JV Seat knocked down a turnaround to give UCO a 53-30 lead with 15:48 to play in the game.

The Bronchos added a late 9-0 run to keep extending the lead on the way to the winner's circle.

Hart finished with 20 on 9 of 13 shooting. The senior guard added a full stat sheet with five rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one blocked shot. Sebock scored 10 on 5 of 12 shooting and pulled down five rebounds. Hannah scored 10 on 3 of 6 shooting – all 3-point shots.

Haasl, Thompson, and Jarreth Ingram each scored eight points. The senior Haasl added a team-high eight rebounds and had one blocked shot. Thompson grabbed six boards and dished out five assists. Ingram returned to the lineup after missing two games and went 3-for-4 from the floor, including one 3-pointer. He had four rebounds.

Ben Averitt chipped in seven points, and Seat and Willenborg scored four each. Connor Newton and Chase Sucharda both scored three and each knocked down a 3-pointer to do it. Caiden Punt added two points from the free-throw line.

Central Oklahoma shot 54.4 percent from the floor, making 37 of 68 shots. UCO was 8-for-28 from behind the arc and 5-for-12 from the free-throw line.

Central Oklahoma doesn't return to the floor until next Sunday when the Bronchos host soon-to-be Division II member UT Dallas. That matchup is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Hamilton Field House.
