UCO Falls Short At SWOSU

Bronchos Drop Non-Conference Clash In Weatherford

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Central Oklahoma fell behind early and never recovered in a 65-57 loss at Southwestern Oklahoma State Thursday night.

UCO is 2-2 on the season following the loss. The Bronchos return to action Sunday and are back at home to welcome Science & Arts to Hamilton Field House.

Central Oklahoma started the game with a 4-0 lead, but its 12-9 lead early in the game was its last. After SWOSU hit a 3-pointer to tie the game, both teams traded six buckets to stretch the 12-12 game to 18-18 with just under nine minutes remaining in the first half.

Southwestern slowly pulled away down the stretch and led by 10 points, 35-25, near the end of the half.

Most of the second half was the same, with the host Bulldogs controlling the game. But a late UCO rally gave the Bronchos a chance.

Trailing by 15 points, 61-46, with 5:49 to play, Israel Hart hit a 3-pointer, Jacobi Sebock hit a 3-pointer, and JV Seat hit a 3-pointer, to bring the Bronchos to within six, 61-55, with 3:02 to play.

But the Bronchos couldn't get any closer and finished the game on the wrong side of a 65-57 setback.

Seat, Hart, and Sebock led Central Oklahoma with 11 points each. The trio each hit four shots, with Seat's three 3-pointers leading the way from outside. Sebock added a team-high eight rebounds.

Jordan Thompson added eight points, Luke Haasl finished with five points, and Parker Hannah scored three points. Ben Averitt, Caiden Punt, Jack Robinson, and Matthew Willenborg each scored two points.

Central Oklahoma is home most of the first semester. Thursday was the Bronchos first road game of the season. UCO hosts USAO Sunday afternoon, UT Dallas the following Sunday, and then opens MIAA play with home games against Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern in December.
