Zane Adams Named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week

Central Oklahoma Senior Defensive Lineman Blocked Kick To Win Game Saturday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Central Oklahoma senior defensive lineman Zane Adams was named MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week, presented by Mammoth, the league announced Monday.

Adams, who is from Haskell, Oklahoma, blocked a field-goal as time expired to preserve No. 8 Central Oklahoma's 28-27 victory against Washburn Saturday in Topeka, Kansas. The win also lifted Central to at least a share of its first MIAA title since joining the league in 2012.

Adams finished the game with seven tackles. He also forced a fumble in the fourth quarter as the Bronchos erased a 21-13 deficit to come back for the win.

Adams has played in 40 of 43 games for the Bronchos over the past four seasons. He has 10 career sacks. Saturday was the first time he's forced a fumble in his career and the second time he's blocked a kick.

Central Oklahoma is ranked No. 8 in the country in the AFCA Top 25, No. 7 in the country in the D2Football.com Top 25, and No. 4 in the NCAA Super Region III rankings. The Bronchos host Emporia State Saturday at 1 p.m. and will recognize Adams and 15 other seniors prior to kickoff. The game is also Military Appreciation Day and fans presenting a military ID will receive free admission.
