Central Oklahoma Falls In MIAA Road Game

MARYVILLE, Mo. – Central Oklahoma let an early second-half run get away from them Thursday night as No. 24 Northwest Missouri handed the Bronchos a 71-56 setback in MIAA play at Bearcat Arena.
 
Central Oklahoma is now 14-5 on the season and 6-5 in the MIAA. Northwest improved to 12-4 overall and 8-2 in league play.
 
UCO led early in the game, 14-12, and trailed 27-25 at halftime. But in the second half, trailing 32-31, Northwest put together an 8-2 run and followed that with a 10-0. In a span of 6:56, NWMSU outscored UCO 18-4 to take command of the game.
 
Trailing 50-35, Northwest's largest lead of the game, Central responded by going on a 9-0 run to get back within two possessions, 50-44.
 
Northwest added a 7-0 run and ended the game on a 10-5 run to pull away with the win.
 
Central Oklahoma shot 40.0 percent from the floor as a team Thursday night. The Bronchos made 18 of 45 shots, including 7 of 20 from behind the 3-point line. UCO also went 13-for-14 from the free-throw line.
 
Mike Quick Jr. led Central with 16 points off the bench. The sophomore guard went 4-for-8 from the floor and 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. He also hit one 3-pointer. Quick Jr. added two rebounds and two steals.
 
Jaden Wells scored 15 points, going 5-for-14 from the floor. Wells hit two 3-pointers and went 3-for-3 from the free-throw line. Wells added four rebounds, three assists and one steal.
 
Majok Majouk had a big first half, scoring nine points on three made 3-pointers. He finished with nine and had four rebounds and two blocks. Danquez Dawsey added eight points and three assists.
 
Matthew Willenborg added four points in eight minutes, and Jalyn Turner and Luke Haasl both had two points and four rebounds, with Haasl also adding one blocked shot.
 
Central Oklahoma began a three-game road swing with Thursday night's game. The Bronchos visit Missouri Western on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., and will also head to Wichita, Kansas to take on Newman next Saturday.
