Bronchos Tie On The Road

Central Oklahoma Played Northeastern State To A 1-1 Draw In MIAA Matchup Sunday In Tahlequah

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Central Oklahoma used a first-half penalty to draw even with Northeastern State Sunday afternoon in an MIAA matchup and the contest stayed that way to the finish.

UCO 1, NSU 1.

Central Oklahoma is now 3-2-3 overall on the season with an 0-0-1 record in the MIAA. The Bronchos will host Central Missouri and Missouri Southern in Edmond next weekend as part of UCO's Homecoming Week.

A week ago, NSU snuck out of Edmond with a 2-1 victory over the Bronchos in a non-conference matchup between league rivals. This time in Tahlequah, an early goal put off similar vibes. Northeastern State took a 1-0 lead in ninth minute when a scattered defense allowed an easy goal for the hosts.

But UCO leveled the match. In the 22nd minute, Madison Linavong was taken down in the box. A penalty was awarded, and Amaya Grace stepped up to take the kick. She went low to the left and the NSU keeper never moved her feet.

UCO outshot NSU 8-6 in the first half of what was a rather even matchup. That continued throughout the second half.

The Bronchos took nine more shots in the second half for 17 total in the match but couldn't find the back of the net on any other chances. UCO put 9 of 17 shots on goal. Northeastern took 13 total shots in the game with four on goal.

Avery Bass played the full 90 minutes in goal and made three saves in earning her second tie of the season. She is 1-0-2 in three games played.
