UCO's Newcomers Earn MIAA Academic Honors

Freshmen and Transfer Students Earn MIAA Honor Roll, Scholar Athlete, and Academic Excellence Awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The MIAA announced Thursday its final Academic Awards of the 2022-23 year with the newcomer's list, awarding those freshmen and transfers which were not eligible for recognition during the year, and Central Oklahoma had a big list of honorees.

In total, there were 1,046 student-athletes named to the MIAA Honor Roll for carrying a 3.0 grade point average. Another 56 student-athletes were named MIAA Scholar Athlete for both having a 3.5 GPA and earning All-MIAA status during the year. And lastly, 138 newcomers were given the Academic Excellence award for having a 4.0 GPA last year.
 
Central Oklahoma's list of honorees includes 73 student-athletes on the MIAA Honor Roll, with six of those also earned Academic Excellence awards. Jesse Brooks (baseball), Eliana Bravington (women's basketball), Sofia Magana and Lauren Piper (soccer), Rylee Lemos (softball), and Talyn Been (track & field) each received Academic Excellence awards. UCO also had two student-athletes earn MIAA Scholar Athlete awards – Football's Oscar Hammond and softball's Emily Deramus – for having both a 3.5 GPA and earning All-MIAA status this season.
