Central Oklahoma Season Ends Sunday In Kansas

PITTSBURG, Kan. – Central Oklahoma's season came to an end on Sunday in Game 3 of the MIAA Baseball Championship's first round best-of-three series at Pittsburg State with a 14-8 loss.
 
The Bronchos scored seven runs in the first four innings in what was yet another high-scoring affair with the Gorillas. But Pitt State scored nine in the first three innings, then added five late runs to take a 14-7 lead. UCO managed one more in the ninth before falling short in the end.
 
"We fought hard in every game this weekend and it just didn't work out," UCO head baseball coach John Martin said. "All three games this weekend you knew it wasn't over till the end with these offenses playing at a high level. We just didn't match theirs. But we're proud of this team and we know we fought for it."
 
Central Oklahoma finished the 2023 regular season 32-19.
 
Kaleb Glass and Seth Gray both had three hits to lead the Bronchos on Sunday. Aiden Proctor, Jaden Parsons, and Orlando Gonzalez each had two, and Noah Olson, Cameron Uselton and Austin Lambert all had one hit.
 
Proctor, Glass, Parsons, Uselton and Gray all had doubles. Glass and Gonzalez hit triples. And Olson and Lambert each hit home runs.
 
Central Oklahoma used eight pitchers on Sunday. James Wambold made the start in his return from the injured list and didn't record an out before Martin went to the bullpen. Jase Farmer threw 2/3 of an inning in the bottom of the first, then Brandon Gomez got the final out with UCO trailing 4-1.
 
Aiden Bagwell started the bottom of the second inning and also didn't record an out before Grant Zwald came out of the bullpen. Zwald threw a game-high 3 2/3 innings.
 
Valek Cisneros threw 2 1/3, Jacob Bailey threw 1/3, and Jeb Jenkins threw 2/3 of an inning.
 
Cisneros struck out four and Farmer and Zwald both struck out two batters each.
