UCO Downed By A Run, Again

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Central Oklahoma dropped a one-run game at No. 4 Central Missouri for the second time in as many days Saturday when the Bronchos lost 6-5 in Game 2 of the three-game MIAA series.

UCO dropped to 29-15 overall on the season and is now 16-13 in the MIAA. Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.

Saturday, Central Oklahoma jumped out to an early lead. Austin Lambert drew a two-out walk and Orlando Gonzalez was hit by a pitch after that. Then Seth Gray launched a three-run home run over the fence in left field.

Noah Olson did the same in the fourth, belting a solo shot to center field to give UCO a 4-0 lead in the ball game.

Central Missouri slowly got back into the game, scoring two runs in the fourth and fifth, before one more run in the sixth and seventh innings.

After UCM tied the game, 4-4, Lambert's sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth scored Olson and put the Bronchos back in front, 5-4.

But UCM tied it again in the bottom of the sixth and the run in the seventh proved to be the game winner.

UCO managed just five hits Saturday. Olson had a double and the home run. Kaleb Glass and Landen Wood also had singles to go with Gray's homer.

Caleb Burchfield got the start for the Bronchos and threw 4 2/3 innings. He allowed three runs on four hits and a walk. Jase Farmer (1/3), Grant Zwald (1.0) and Valek Cisneros (2.0) all came out of the bullpen. Cisneros recorded UCO's only strikeout of the game.
