Bronchos Move Up To Fourth In MIAA Tourney

BOLIVAR, Mo. (April 18) – Caleb Kimmel and Ross Taylor had a pair of one-over-par 73s to lead Central Oklahoma in second-day play at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Golf Championships Tuesday afternoon.

The Bronchos shot a 297 to move up one spot in the team standings with a 596 total after two trips around the 6,938-yard, par-72 Silo Ridge Golf Club. Missouri Southern, Northeastern State and Washburn are tied for the team lead heading in Wednesday's final round with a 590 total.

Evan Griffith was a shot behind Kimmel and Taylor with a 74, while Bennett Baldwin and Kyle Hickey both shot 77.

Taylor offset a pair of front-nine bogeys with birdies on the par-4 fourth and par-5 sixth holes in making the turn at even-par 36. He bogeyed No. 11, got that stroke back with a birdie on the par-5 12th and then dropped back to one-over with a bogey on No. 17.

Taylor is fifth in the individual standings with a three-over 147 total.

Kimmel had an up-and-down day, making only six pars in his one-over round. The junior was one-over on the front nine before eagling the par-5 sixth, then offset a bogey on No. 7 with a birdie on the par-4 eighth in making the turn at one-under 35.

Kimmel had four bogeys, three pars and two birdies on the back nine for a 38. He's tied for 10th with a 149 total.

Griffith made 14 pars, three bogeys and one birdie in his round of 74.
