No. 10 Bronchos Outrun RSU Hillcats

EDMOND – Preston Aymond and Danquez Dawsey both scored career highs Wednesday night to lead No. 10 Central Oklahoma to an 80-73 win over Rogers State in an MIAA matchup at Hamilton Field House.
 
Both had career nights, and both scored 20 points.
 
"Those two were great tonight and we needed it," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "They stepped up, not just in the game, but at the right moments of the game too."
 
Aymond scored 20 points on 5 of 10 shooting, including one 3-pointer. He was 9-for-9 from the free-throw line and had seven rebounds.
 
Dawsey went 6-for-8 to score 20 points, hitting both of his 3-point attempts and all six of his free-throw attempts. He also had three assists and two rebounds.
 
The Bronchos also got a dozen points from Curtis Haywood, who added five assists, four rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot. Jaden Wells scored nine points to go with five boards and a steal. And Camryn Givens scored nine points to go with seven rebounds, four assists, and one block and one steal.
 
Tre'Veon Ellis (five), Ben Averitt (three) and Luke Haasl (two) rounded out the scoring for Central Oklahoma.
 
UCO shot 44.9 percent from the floor Wednesday night and 42.1 percent from behind the 3-point line. UCO hit 8 of 19 shots from deep. The Bronchos also went 28-for-34 from the free-throw line, an 82.4 percent mark.
 
Central Oklahoma is back in action Saturday afternoon for the final home game of the 2022-23 season. The Bronchos host Northeastern State on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and will honor its senior class before tipoff.
