No. 3 Bronchos Rout Central Missouri To Open MIAA Play

Central Oklahoma Earns First MIAA Win Thursday At Hamilton Field House

EDMOND – No. 3 Central Oklahoma jumped out to an early lead and never looked back on its way to a 75-62 win over Central Missouri Thursday night at Hamilton Field House in the 2023-24 MIAA opener.
 
UCO led by as many as 25 points in the second half and never trailed in the game. The Bronchos improved to 6-0 on the season and 1-0 in the MIAA. UCM is 4-1 overall and 0-1 in the MIAA.
 
The Bronchos opened the game on a 14-6 run and hit all four of its 3-point attempts during the stretch. Danquez Dawsey, Jalyn Turner, Luke Haasl and Jaden Wells all hit 3-pointers. Daswey's driving layup made it 14-6 just 3:42 into the game.
 
Dawsey went on to dish out 11 assists on the night.
 
Mike Quick Jr. led the Bronchos with a career-high 19 points on 7 of 8 shooting. He was 4 of 5 from behind the arc and also made one free-throw. Haasl added a career-high 17 points and pulled down six rebounds. He was 5-for-9 from the floor, hit the one 3-pointer, and went 6-for-7 from the free-throw line.
 
Wells finished with 16 points, hitting four 3-pointers. He was 5-for-15 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the free-throw line. Wells added one rebounds and two assists.
 
Matthew Willenborg scored seven points to go with a team-high eight rebounds. The true freshman was 3-for-5 from the floor and 1-for-1 from behind the arc. He had three offensive rebounds and five on defense.
 
Dawsey scored five points to go with his 11 assists. Parker Hannah scored four points, Turner finished with three, and Majok Majouk and Evan Barber both scored two points.
 
Central Oklahoma continues its MIAA opening weekend Saturday afternoon with a contest against Lincoln. The Blue Tigers are 5-0 this season after beating Newman Thursday night to move to 1-0 in the MIAA.
