Central Oklahoma Stumbles In Hays

HAYS, Kan. – Central Oklahoma struggled to get the offense going Sunday afternoon in an MIAA matchup with Fort Hays State and dropped the league affair, 3-0.

Central Oklahoma is 4-3-5 overall following the loss. The Bronchos are 1-1-3 in the MIAA.

"We never got anything going on offense and that's not like us at all," UCO head women's soccer coach Mike Cook said. "We played much better on Friday, but not today. We need to re-focus and get ready for the next one."

Central Oklahoma only took eight shots in the game on Sunday and only one of those were on goal.

Matilda Torres took half of the team's shots and put the only one on goal. Madison Linavong took three shots and Amaya Grace took one.

Defensively, Caroline Faulkner played the full 90 in goal and faced 15 shots on the day. The junior goalkeeper made four saves.

Fort Hays State got on the scoreboard with a goal in the 22nd minute. The Tigers added two in the second half, scoring in the 62nd and 80th minutes.

Central Oklahoma continues a four-game road trip next week. The Bronchos visit Missouri Western on Friday, Oct. 13 before taking on Northwest Missouri on Oct. 15. UCO is back home Oct. 20 & 22, hosting Washburn and Emporia State.
