Central Oklahoma Ties Missouri Western

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Central Oklahoma opened the weekend with a scoreless draw Friday night in an MIAA matchup at Missouri Western.

The Bronchos are now 4-3-6 overall on the season and UCO is 1-1-4 in league play.

"We had our chances, but we didn't get it done," UCO head women's soccer coach Mike Cook said. "Our defense was really good tonight. But we didn't get anything through on offense. While we obviously wanted to win, it's always good to not lose."

Central Oklahoma wraps up a four-game road trip at Northwest Missouri Sunday afternoon.

Friday night, UCO and MWSU both took five shots. The Bronchos had a 3-1 advantage in shots on goal, but couldn't find the back of the net. Emma Nicholas took one shot on goal and Izzy Van Zanten took two.

The Bronchos cranked up the offense in the second half, taking eight shots and putting three more on target. Nicholas put a second shot on goal in the second half between an SOG from Harmony Turner and Stormie Ramsey.

Caroline Faulkner played the full 90 in goal for the Bronchos. She saw eight total shots from Missouri Western and made two saves as the Griffons put one shot on goal in each half. Faulkner is now up to 97 career saves.

Central Oklahoma will meet Northwest Missouri Sunday at 1 p.m. The Bronchos return home after that MIAA clash and will host Washburn and Emporia State next weekend in Edmond.
