The Bronchos of 10th-year head coach Cody White received two first-place votes and totaled 151 points in balloting of the 14 conference coaches to finish behind Rogers State and Washburn. The Hillcats earned seven first-place votes and 161 points, while the Ichabods were right behind with 158 points and five first-place nods.

Washburn captured last year's league title with a 24-2 mark, one game ahead of UCO. Rogers came in third in the MIAA standings before winning the conference tournament and then went on to beat the Bronchos in the Central Super Regional finals on its way to claiming NCAA Division II national championship.

Missouri Western came in third in the MIAA poll, followed by Missouri Southern, Central Missouri, Northeastern State, Nebraska-Kearney, Pittsburg State, Emporia State, Fort Hays State, Northwest Missouri, Newman and Lincoln.

UCO has won four league titles (2013, '17, '19 and '21) and finished runner-up four times (2014, '15, '16 and '22) since joining the MIAA, with the worst finish a third-place showing in 2018 (the 2020 conference season was canceled by COVID-19).

The Bronchos have six position starters and one starting pitcher back from last year's 48-13 team, with those 48 wins tied for the second-most in school history. UCO opens the 2023 campaign Feb. 3-5 at the Division II Spring Invitational Kickoff in Conroe, Texas, with the MIAA season starting March 10 at Emporia State.
