Central Oklahoma tallied 9.75 points during the 2021-22 year and was behind third-place Northwest Missouri by a mere 0.03 points. Pittsburg State claimed the cup this year with 10.88 points and Central Missouri was second with 10.78 points.

The Bronchos have finished fourth or better in five of six years since the league began presenting the award. UCO finished third in each of the first three years before a seventh-place finish in the abruptly canceled 2019-20 year. Central has finished fourth now two years in a row.

The MIAA Commissioner's Cup is awarded to a school for all-around performance throughout the year based on a point system reflecting the finish of each team in conference play.

Central Oklahoma won MIAA championships in wrestling, men's basketball and tennis this year. The Bronchos have won 21 MIAA championships since joining the league 10 years ago.
