No. 11 Bronchos Batter Barclay

EDMOND – No. 11 Central Oklahoma battered Barclay College Tuesday night, taking a 113-54 victory at Hamilton Field House. 

The Bronchos improved to 2-0 on the season with the win.

"We did a good job early of getting the guys going," UCO head men's basketball coach Bob Hoffman said. "It was important for us to get off to a good start and we did and it's always good when you get the chance to play everyone and get the guys minutes."

Barclay hit an early 3-pointer to take a 5-4 lead, but UCO responded with Camryn Givens knocking down the first of his five buckets to put the Bronchos back in front, 6-5. UCO never trailed again, leading for 39:02 of the entire game. 

Central Oklahoma led by as many as 29 in the first half, outscoring Barclay 46-23 in the first 20 minutes. The Bronchos built an enormous 62-point lead near the end of the game before settling on the 59-point victory. 

Jaden Wells led Central Oklahoma in scoring with 17 points. He was one of seven Bronchos to score in double figures on Tuesday. 

Wells was 6-for-13 from the floor, including 5-for-9 behind the 3-point line. He also had three steals and two rebounds. 

Preston Aymond scored 13 points to go with five boards and Givens finished with 12 points and five rebounds. Curtis Haywood added 11 points and 10 rebounds. Callen Haydon, who scored seven points to go with eight assists, gave UCO starters 60 points in the game. 

Ben Averitt led the bench effort with 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting, including one 3-pointer. Mike Quick Jr. scored 13 points to go with eight rebounds. And Austin Fenton made it three reserves in double figures with his 11 point outing. 

Luke Haasl scored four points and had a game-high 11 rebounds and two blocked shots. Danquez Dawsey, Tre'Veon Ellis, and Gunner Korstjens all scored three points and Jalyn Turner added two. 

Central Oklahoma shot 56.4 percent from the floor overall on Tuesday. The Bronchos were 34.4 percent from behind the 3-point line, making 11 of 32 shots from deep. UCO also went 14-for-22 (63.6 pct.) from the free-throw line. 

Central Oklahoma wraps up a busy three games in five days stretch on Thursday when the Bronchos host Kansas Christian at Hamilton Field House at 7 p.m.
