UCO Falls At Rogers State

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Central Oklahoma struck first, but a quick response and strong second half from Rogers State left the Bronchos on the wrong side of a 2-1 decision Friday night.

UCO is now 11-3-3 overall and 6-3-1 in the MIAA.

"Hats off to Rogers State, they played a better game tonight," UCO head soccer coach Mike Cook said. "We had some chances and didn't convert and they did a good job of limiting us."

Central Oklahoma outshot Rogers State 10-5 and had a 7-3 advantage in shots on goal. But it was Rogers that bested the Bronchos on Friday.

Lauren Piper scored in the 14th minute to give UCO a 1-0 lead in the game. Moments later, Rogers State had the response. In the 18th minute, Iris Seamster scored to tie the match.

UCO outshot Rogers 5-3 in the first half and the match remained tied, 1-1, through halftime.

In the 57th minute though, Rogers found the back of the net again. Amaris Jasso scored her first goal of the season to put RSU in front, 2-1.

UCO took five shots in a 10-minute window in the second half after falling behind, but the Bronchos couldn't find the back of the net. Four of those last five shots were saved by the Hillcat goalkeeper.

Central Oklahoma now turns its attention the 2022 regular season finale. The Bronchos visit Newman on Sunday at 1 p.m. UCO has clinched a berth in the MIAA postseason tournament, which begins a week from Sunday's finale.
