UCO No. 20 In NFCA Preseason Coaches' Poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Central Oklahoma softball team is preparing to make its 2022 season debut next month and the Bronchos will do that as a nationally ranked team once again.

Central is ranked No. 20 in the country in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Preseason Top 25, announced Tuesday.

Central Oklahoma, which opens the 2022 season Feb. 3 in Texas, was ranked No. 22 in the country in the final 2021 coaches' poll.

The Bronchos are coming off a 36-14 season. UCO won the MIAA regular season title and hosted both the MIAA postseason championship and the NCAA Division II Central regional championship.

UCO returns seven starting position players and has three pitchers back from last year's squad in addition to a solid incoming group that can help the Bronchos sooner rather than later.

UCO will visit Conroe, Texas next weekend for the Arkansas Tech Invitational. The Bronchos will then spend the remainder of February in Edmond, hosting two weekends of softball tournaments at Gerry Pinkston Stadium.
