Bronchos Bumped By Bison

EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma soccer team dropped a 4-3 decision to Oklahoma Baptist Saturday night at Tom Thompson Field in non-conference play.

Central Oklahoma is now 2-2 on the 2021 season. The Bronchos had a two-game win streak and a two-game shutout streak before Saturday's game.

UCO got off to a good start. Madison Linavong scored the game's first goal – and her first career goal – in seventh minute to give the Bronchos an early 1-0 lead. Taryn Kedzior assisted on the play with a cross from the left side.

Later in the first half, just as clock passed 30 minutes of play, Emily Tincher took a corner for the Bronchos. She put a ball on the back side of the box that Linavong headed over in front of the box. Meredith Wilson then headed it home for the second goal of the game.

UCO led 2-0 with 15 minutes to play in the first half.

But then OBU went on a run.

The Bison scored one right before the half to cut the lead in half. Then out of the break, OBU struck again to tie the game, 2-2, in the 51st minute. Soon after, it was a 3-2 lead for Oklahoma Baptist after 63 minutes of play.

Kassidy Collins did score her second goal of the season to tie the game again, 3-3, with just over 15 minutes left in the match. But another OBU goal with nine minutes left in the game made it 4-3 and Central couldn't equalize.

OBU's Hannah White logged a hat trick, scoring each of the last three goals for the Bison.

Central Oklahoma outshot Oklahoma Baptist by a blistering pace. The Bronchos put up 18 shots in the game and put 12 on goal. OBU had eight total shots and six on goal.

Kaitlyn Asher played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bronchos and made two saves.

UCO has one non-conference game left this season and it's against conference rival Northeastern State Friday at 7 p.m. at Tom Thompson Field. The Bronchos will then travel to Newman in Wichita, Kansas for their MIAA opener next Sunday afternoon.
