No. 6-ranked Central Oklahoma opens a three-match homestand and makes its Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association debut Friday when the Bronchos host Newman for a 7 p.m. dual at Hamilton Field House.
UCO is 6-1 on the season and coming off a third-place finish in last weekend's NWCA Division II National Duals in Louisville, Ky. It will be the first dual of the season for the Jets from Wichita, Kan.
"We had a good performance last week and need to continue building on that momentum," said head coach Todd Steidley, is 49-10 in his fourth year at the helm. "We don't get a lot of chances to wrestle in front of our fans, so the guys are excited about being home. Newman has a solid team and we need to be ready to go."
ABOUT THE SERIES: Central has dominated the Jets over the years and owns a 14-0 series advantage. The Bronchos won 26-9 last year in Wichita.

ABOUT THE BRONCHOS: UCO went 3-1 with wins over a pair of top-four teams in finishing third at the NWCA Division II National Duals.
The Bronchos opened with a 29-7 rout of No. 16 Colorado School of Mines, knocked off No. 3 Notre Dame College 28-10 in the quarterfinals, fell to top-ranked and eventual champion St. Cloud State 22-12 in the semifinals and finished with an 18-13 upset of No. 4 Nebraska-Kearney.
Tanner Cole and Heath Gray both went 4-0 to lead the way.
The sixth-ranked Cole had a pair of technical falls along with an 8-6 overtime win over No. 1 Josh Portillo of UNK in earning MIAA Wrestler of the Week honors. Cole is riding a six-match winning streak and has six bonus-point wins on the season.
The second-rated Gray notched two major decisions and also upended No. 1 Tony Vezzetti of Notre Dame 4-1. Gray has earned bonus points in 16 of his 20 wins this season and has won 19 straight matches.
Brik Filippo (149), Gage McBride (174), Dalton Abney (197) and Christian Arriola (Hvy) all went 2-0 last weekend. Fourth-ranked Ty Lucas had a 3-1 record, with his lone loss a 3-1 overtime setback to No. 1 Jake Barzowski of St. Cloud.
ABOUT THE JETS: Newman has a pair of ranked wrestlers in 133 Tyler Lawley (seventh) and 157 Kameron Frame (11th).
Lawley placed third at the rugged Midwest Classic earlier this season, while Frame was fifth in that event. Frame is a returning All-American, placing sixth in last year's national tournament while earning MIAA Freshman of the Year honors.
Newman resumed its second semester schedule at the Hastings Open last weekend, with Lawley, 184 Nate Panagakis and 197 Ivan Balavage winning titles while Kameron Frame and 149 Kevin Kissane were runners-up.
UP NEXT: Central is back home Sunday to take on Emmanuel at 2 p.m. and then ends the homestand next Saturday, Jan. 25, with a 3 p.m. contest against Lindenwood.
