UCO Romps Past East Central

DURANT, Okla. (Sept. 13) – Eleven players recorded at least one kill as Central Oklahoma overwhelmed intrastate rival East Central Friday morning in the first match of the Southeastern Classic.

The Bronchos never trailed in any of the three sets en route to a dominating 25-15, 25-11, 25-9 rout. UCO hit a sizzling .410 with 41 kills and just nine errors in 78 attacks.

Central -- which ended a two-match losing streak in moving to 4-2 on the season -- is back in action at 5 p.m. against Southern Nazarene before returning Saturday to take on Cameron at 11 a.m. and Arkansas-Monticello at 3 p.m.

"Our offense was really good and we stayed aggressive the whole match," head coach Edgar Miraku said. "We got to play a lot of people and it was a good start to the weekend for us."

Lauren Jenkins led UCO's balanced attack, hitting .417 with seven kills and two errors in 12 attempts while Malia Kaaiohelo hit .400 with five kills and one miscue in 10 attacks. Ericka Scholl, Courtney Lane and Bailey Combs each hit .500 or better with four kills apiece.

Scholl added 16 assists and a service ace, Bella Burns knocked down three aces and Dominique Lipari paced the defense with 20 digs.
