UCO No. 2 In National Poll, First In Regional Rankings

Central Oklahoma remained No. 2 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II poll while also coming in No. 1 in the first Central Regional rankings that were released Wednesday.

The Bronchos, 35-3 on the season, received one first-place vote and finished with 382 points in balloting of 16 head coaches from around the country in the national poll to come in No. 2 for the fifth straight week.

West Florida received the remaining 15 first-place votes and had 399 points in staying No. 1.  Texas A&M-Kingsville, North Georgia and Florida Tech rounded out the top five.

UCO is first in the all-important Central Regional rankings, which will determine the eight teams that advance to the Division II national tournament at the end of the season.

The Central Region is comprised of teams from the Mid-America intercollegiate Athletics Association, the Great American Conference and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

The Bronchos, Missouri Western (sixth) and Central Missouri (ninth) represent the MIAA in the regional top-10.  Augustana (second), Winona State (third), Minnesota-Duluth (seventh) and St. Cloud State (eighth) are from the NSIC, while Southern Arkansas (fourth), Arkansas Tech (fifth) and Harding (10th) represent the GAC.
