Bronchos Run Winning Streak To 20 Straight

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (March 17) – JoBi Heath and Halley Randolph belted two doubles each to highlight a 13-hit attack that carried streaking Central Oklahoma to a 9-1 second-game romp over Lincoln Sunday afternoon.

It was the second 9-1 rout of the day for the No. 4-ranked Bronchos, who stretched their winning streak to 20 in a row – the second-longest in school history – and improved to 24-1 on the season and 8-0 in the league in completing the doubleheader sweep.

"We stayed aggressive and swung the bats pretty good today," said head coach Cody White, whose team collected 27 hits in the two wins over the Blue Tigers.  "Winning on the road in this conference is never easy, so I'm really happy with the way we played the last couple of days."

Heath, Randolph, Hazel Puempel, Bailey Thompson, Carli Jones and Lexy Dobson had two hits apiece, with Heath, Randolph and Jones – the 3-4-5 hitters in the UCO lineup – each driving in two runs.

Bailey McKittrick picked up the pitching win, giving up six hits and one run in six innings while striking out seven in moving to 11-0 on the season.  Lauren Gibson threw a perfect seventh inning to close out the rout.

The game was scoreless until the third, when the Bronchos broke loose for three runs to take a lead they never relinquished.

Thompson got a two-out rally started with a walk and stolen base, then Randolph and Heath followed with back-to-back RBI doubles.  Jones pushed the lead to 3-0 with a run-scoring single through the right side.

Lincoln scored its lone run in the fourth to get within 3-1, but UCO answered that in the fifth when Thomson led off with a single and eventually scored on Jones' infield base hit.

The Bronchos broke the game open in the sixth with a four-run volley.

Puempel and Thompson had RBI singles, with Randolph and Heath delivering consecutive run-scoring doubles for the second time of the game.  It was the 19th double of the season for Heath, moving her to third on UCO's single-season list.

UCO completed the scoring in the seventh when Dobson led off with a triple down the right field line and scored on Allie Eicher's sacrifice fly.
