UCO Falls To No. 9 Lions

CONROE, Texas (Feb. 3) – Central Oklahoma fell behind early and never recovered in losing a 10-0 decision to No. 9-ranked Texas A&M-Commerce on the final day of the Arkansas Tech Winter Invitational Sunday morning.

The Bronchos, who rallied for a pair of one-run wins Saturday, gave up four first-inning runs to the Lions in suffering their first loss after winning their first four games in the season-opening event.

"We just ran out of gas and that's not to take anything away from Commerce, because they have a great team and took it to us," head coach Cody White said.  "We didn't have a lot of energy today, but overall I thought it was a pretty good weekend for us to start the season.  It's definitely something we can build on and we look forward to being at home next weekend."

Central makes its home debut Feb. 8-10 when it hosts the Raising Cane's Edmond Softball Festival, playing five games in that three-day event.

The Bronchos managed just three hits in the loss to TAMU-C, one each by JoBi heath, Carli Jones and Lexy Dobson.

Four pitchers limited the Lions to seven hits, but Central was hampered by six walks and three errors.  The Lions followed their first-inning outburst with three runs in the second and three more in the fourth in ending the game early on the eight-run rule.
