White Picks Up Milestone Win in UCO Rout

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 26) – Morgan Heard had three hits to ignite an offensive assault that carried Central Oklahoma to a 12-1 annihilation of Northeastern State in the first round of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Postseason Tournament Thursday at ASA Hall of Fame Complex.

The Bronchos pounded out 15 hits and scored all 12 runs in two innings – nine of those with two outs -- to hand fifth-year head coach Cody White his 200th career win.  UCO improved to 30-20 and moved into a semifinal bout with Lindenwood at later Thursday night.

All nine starters recorded at least one hit in the run-rule romp, with Heard's 3-for-4 outing leading the way.  Carrie Abrams, JoBi Heath, Lexy Dobson and Carli Jones had two hits apiece as Central had its best offensive game since a season-high 19-hit, 17-run attack against Southeastern Oklahoma on Feb. 28.

Jayden Chestnut picked up the pitching win, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out three in the first four innings in improving to 17-5.  Lauren Gibson gave up no hits and an unearned run in pitching the final inning.

UCO took control early, pushing across five runs in the second inning.

Mo Selman led off the frame with a double down the left field line, Dobson followed with a single and Jones drew a walk to load the bases, with Selman scoring the game's first run on a wild pitch.  Halley Randolph's sacrifice fly made it 2-0 and consecutive two-out RBI hits by Abrams, Heard and Heath ended the onslaught.

The Bronchos put the game away with an impressive seven-run volley in the fourth, sending 11 batters to the plate and recording eight hits.

Heard got things started with a one-out solo home run, ripping a line-drive just inside the left field foul pole for her ninth dinger of the season.  Heath singled, then Dobson and Jones had two-out base hits to load the bases.

Randolph drove in two runs with a single to left field,
Casady Webb followed with a two-run double to the left-center field gap and back-to-back RBI singles by Bailey Thompson and Abrams wrapped up the big inning that pushed UCO's lead to 12-0.
