Grayson's Hot Hand Lifts Bronchos

BOLIVAR, Mo. (Feb. 3) – Marqueese Grayson got in a second-half shooting zone and carried Central Oklahoma past Southwest Baptist here Saturday afternoon.

The senior guard scored every one of his game-high 26 points in the final 20 minutes, hitting 9-of-11 shots from the field – including all six 3-point attempts – and 2-of-3 free throws in a dominating performance that gave the Bronchos a much-needed 79-74 victory.

UCO ended a two-game Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association losing streak in beating the Bearcats for the second time this season, improving to 15-7 overall and 8-5 in the league.

"Marqueese really had it going in the second half and we needed every bit of it," said head coach Tom Hankins, whose team overcame a six-point halftime deficit.  "He's been playing great the last couple of weeks.  This was a big, big win for us and I'm proud of our guys for the way they battled today."

Central finally went ahead to stay at the 13:06 mark when Byford made a layup, was fouled and swished the free throw to complete the three-point play and put the Bronchos up 49-47.
