EDMOND – The University of Central Oklahoma men's basketball team defeated Southwestern Christian Saturday afternoon 87-53 in their 2018-19 home opener at Hamilton Field House. The Bronchos now advance to 3-1 on the season.

"I'm proud of our guys for battling today." UCO head coach Tom Hankins said. "It was good to get another win under the belt before two games on the road."

Senior Josh Holliday started an early 13-0 run for UCO two minutes into the game knocking down a three-point field goal. The Bronchos hit two more to follow and led 13-0 in the first six minutes of the game following an emphatic dunk by Adarius Avery where the senior from Memphis, Tenn. slammed home an offensive rebound right off the rim. Central kept the lead the entire game with their largest lead being 36 with two minutes left in the matchup.

Despite shooting 34 percent from the field, UCO put up 87 points. The Bronchos shot 75 percent (12-16) from the free-throw line.

Avery and Holliday led UCO on the day with points, marking up 14 each. Avery had nine rebounds and Holliday with four assists. Junior Cooper Clark had a career high 14 points and added seven rebounds.
