Bronchos tie Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma tied Lindenwood 2-2 Sunday afternoon in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.
 
The Bronchos move to 5-5-2 on the season, and 2-1-2 in league play.
 
"Getting a tie on the road can be good, but we really should have gotten the win today," UCO head coach Mike Cook said. "We had a lead with about 10 minutes to go and we should have been able to hold on to that."
 
Asha Haile scored both UCO goals Sunday. She tied the game 1-1 in the 20th minute after Morgan Cherry hit her with a slick through pass in front of the goal.
 
Haile then gave the Bronchos a 2-1 lead in the 64th minute. The sophomore scored an unassisted goal from more than 10 yards out after beating the keeper to the left.
 
Lindenwood, which took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute following a barrage of offensive attacks from the Bronchos, then tied it up in the in the 78th.
 
UCO outshot Lindenwood 8-2 in the first half, then 4-2 in the second. In the two overtime periods, UCO again outshot the hosts 1-0 and 3-1. The Bronchos put 11 of their 16 shots on goal. Haile took seven shots on the day to lead Central Oklahoma. She also led the Bronchos with five on target.
 
Kaitlyn Asher played 110 minutes in goal Sunday. The freshman made two saves and allowed two goals.
 
The Bronchos return home after four away. UCO hosts Missouri Western on Friday, Oct. 13 at Tom Thompson Field. UCO has six games left in the regular season, the next four are at home.
