UCO Falls Short At Missouri Southern

JOPLIN, Mo. – The University of Central Oklahoma wrapped up the regular season Sunday afternoon, falling short 2-0 in a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association matchup with Missouri Southern.
 
Central Sunday fell behind 1-0 in the first half after Southern scored in the 15th minute. Ally Salls played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bronchos and made two first-half saves. Southern added a second goal in the 79th minute on its only shot on target in the second half.
 
UCO took 12 shots in the game, four on goal. Morgan Cherry led UCO's offensive attack, taking four shots on the day. She had one of the four on target. Asha Haile also put one of her three shots on goal. Michelle Molen and Camrie Hurst also each took a shot on goal.
 
But UCO couldn't get one past the Southern keeper. The Bronchos end the regular season 7-9-2 and 4-5-2 in league play, and now turn to the postseason looking for a reversal of fortune.
 
UCO will enter the MIAA Tournament next week as the No. 7 seed in the eight-team single elimination postseason draw. Central will travel to St. Joseph, Mo. to take on No. 2 seed Missouri Western on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Here is a complete look at the tournament.
