UCO Keeps On Rolling

SHAWNEE, Okla. (Feb. 9) – Halley Randolph and Lexi Watson each bashed three-run home runs and Jessi Walker had another strong outing in the pitching circle to lead Central Oklahoma past Oklahoma Baptist 8-2 here Tuesday afternoon.

It was the fifth straight win for the Bronchos, who improved to 7-1 on the young season.  UCO makes its home debut Friday, hosting near-by Oklahoma Christian for a 3 p.m. single game.

Randolph's first-inning shot helped give the Bronchos a quick 4-0 lead and Watson's fourth-inning blast made it 8-0, which was more than enough cushion for Walker.

The junior right-hander scattered four hits and walked just one while striking out a career-high 10 in improving to 4-0.

"We jumped on top quick and that puts a lot of pressure on the other team," head coach Cody White said.  "Jessi really threw the ball well and I thought defensively we did a good job in the windy conditions."

Randolph finished 3-for-4 at the plate to pace UCO's 11-hit attack, while JoBi Heath added two hits.

The Bronchos wasted little time taking control after Ally Dziadula walked to lead off the game, went to third on Heath's single through the left side and scored on Morgan Heard's sacrifice fly.

Randolph came through with her first homer of the season later in the frame to make it 4-0 and it stayed that way until UCO broke loose for four more runs in the fourth.

Watson's shot against the wind was the big blow in that inning and Ashton Smith added an RBI single to put the Bronchos on top 8-0.

The Bison staved off the eight-run rule by scoring their only two runs in the bottom of the fourth, but Walker had no trouble shutting OBU down the final three innings.
