Bronchos Win Sixth Straight

EDMOND (Feb. 12) – Tori Collet hit a two-run double to help give Central Oklahoma an early lead and Rachel Harper added a two-run inside-the-park home run later as the streaking Bronchos downed Oklahoma Christian 7-2 Friday afternoon.

It was the sixth straight win for UCO, which improved to 8-1 in its home debut.

"We didn't hit the ball as hard as we have been, but we got the job done," head coach Cody White said.  "It was good to finally play at home and we just want to keep getting better every time we take the field."

The Bronchos ended up with 10 hits, getting two apiece from Morgan Heard and JoBi Heath.

Mo Selman picked up the pitching win, giving up three hits and two earned run in the first five innings before Nicole Brady finished it off with two innings of one-hit relief.

The Eagles scored once in the top of the first inning to break on top, but UCO answered quickly with four runs in its initial at bat.

Ally Dziadula, Heath and Heard had consecutive singles to start the inning and load the bases, with Dziadula scoring on a fielder's choice to tie the game.

Halley Randolph then drew a walk to put the Bronchos on top for good and Collet followed with a line-drive shot to left-center field that plated two more runs and made it 4-1.

Heard delivered a run-scoring double in the fourth to up the lead to 5-1 and OC scored its final run in the top of the fifth before UCO escaped a bases-loaded jam to stay in front.

The Bronchos finished the scoring in the bottom of that frame as Shelby Carel had a one-out single up the middle and Harper followed with her inside-the-park shot.

Harper's sharp liner skipped past OC's on-rushing left fielder and went to the fence, with the speedy senior easily rounding the bases for her first career homer.

UCO doesn't play again until going to San Antonio, Texas Feb. 19-21 for five games in the Rattler Invitational.
