Late Goal Sinks Bronchos

BOLIVAR, Mo. (Sept. 19) – Southwest Baptist scored the tie-breaking goal with 1:03 remaining to hand Central Oklahoma a stunning 2-1 setback here Saturday afternoon.

The Bronchos took a corner kick with 1:35 left that was off the mark and SBU quickly went the other way and got the game winner just 22 seconds later.

Kimberly Linder had a chance to tie the game with 27 seconds to play, but the Bearcats made the save to hold onto their lead and end UCO's two-game winning streak.

"It's a tough way to lose a game," head coach Mike Cook said.  "We had some good scoring chances and just weren't able to finish like we need to."

The Bronchos took the lead just 14:30 into the contest when freshman Katie Killion scored her first career goal off an assist from Camrie Hurst.

SBU tied it at 1-1 just 14 minutes later with an unassisted score and it stayed deadlocked until the last-minute goal.

The Bearcats outshot UCO 11-4 in the first half, but the Bronchos had a 10-4 advantage in the second.

UCO opens Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play Friday, hosting Missouri Western at 4 p.m.
