UCO Falls In Exhibition

TULSA, Okla. (Nov. 7) – A first-half scoring drought put Central Oklahoma in a big hole and the Bronchos never recovered in dropping a 78-58 exhibition decision to Division I Oral Roberts here Saturday night.
 
UCO was up 10-9 eight minutes into the game, but went cold from the field over the next seven minutes as the Golden Eagles went on a 24-7 run en route to taking a 51-26 halftime lead.
 
The Bronchos never got closer than 20 in the second half, though they did outscore ORU 32-27 in the final 20 minutes.
 
"We obviously didn't shoot the ball very well and just made a lot of  mistakes," first-year head coach Tom Hankins said.  "It was a good learning experience for us and we just need to keep moving forward."
 
It was the second and final exhibition game for UCO, which officially opens the season Friday and Saturday the MIAA/GAC Challenge in Durant, Okla.
 
The Bronchos shot just 35.6 percent (21-of-59) in the contest, including a mere 21.7 percent (5-of-23) from 3-point range.  UCO was also 11-of-22 (50.0 percent) from the foul line.
 
Jarred Bairstow as the only player in double figures, finishing with 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field while adding a team-high six rebounds.  Trai Jordan and Corbin Byford adding nine points each.
