Killion Sparks UCO

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (Oct. 29) – Katie Killion scored two goals and assisted on the third to spark Central Oklahoma to a 3-1 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association triumph over Northeastern State here Thursday night.

The Bronchos built a 3-0 lead through 59 minutes en route to their 18th win in 21 meetings with the RiverHawks, improving to 10-5-2 on the season and 6-2-2 in the league with their third straight victory.

NSU, which entered the game tied for the conference lead, fell to 13-4 overall and 7-3 in the conference.

"I was really proud of the way we came out and played tonight," head coach Mike Cook said.  "We were aggressive from the start and picked up a great road win."

Killion was the catalyst with her five-point night.

The freshman standout broke a scoreless deadlock at the 38:26 mark with an unassisted goal, dribbling down the right side before knocking in a shot to the left post.

Killion made it 2-0 in the 54th minute on an assist from Morgan Cherry, securing her eighth goal of the season with a shot from inside the box.

The lead grew to 3-0 five minutes later when Kenna Dyess took a feed from Killion and booted in her first goal of the season from close range.

NSU got its lone goal in the 71st minute, but the Bronchos had no trouble closing out the win.

Elle Stover went the distance between the posts, making five saves.

UCO finished with 19 shots, getting four from Killion and three each from Cherry and Kenzie Sublett.

The Bronchos finish the regular season schedule Saturday, going to Joplin, Mo. to take on Missouri Southern at 1 p.m.
