No. 9 Jennies Too Much For UCO

WARRENSBURG, Mo. (Oct. 16) – No. 9-ranked Central Missouri used a pair of first-half goals to take control and went on to hand Central Oklahoma a 3-0 setback here Friday night.

The Bronchos were outshot 18-8 in the contest in falling to 7-5-1 overall and 4-2-1 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.  The defending league champion Jennies improved to 12-1 and 6-1.

"We played hard, but we're a bit beat up and just didn't play well enough against a really good team," head coach Mike Cook said.  "We've got a young team and need to keep working at getting better every time we take the field."

The teams battled on even teams most of the first half before UCM used a penalty kick to break a scoreless tie in the 38th minute.

The Jennies made it 2-0 just a minute before the end of the half and it stayed that way until UCM tallied its final goal with nine minutes left to play.

Kenzie Sublett had two of UCO's three shots on goal and Elle Stover made seven saves in goal.

The Bronchos resume conference play Sunday with a 1:30 p.m. game at Lindenwood.
