UCO Extends Streak To Six

Box Score

EDMOND (Dec. 7) –
Five different players scored during an 18-0 first-half scoring run that put Central Oklahoma in command and the Bronchos used another balanced attack to smother Lincoln 93-66 Sunday afternoon at Hamilton Field House.

It was the sixth straight win for UCO, which attacked the basket at will in making 21 layups – including five in a row during one stretch – and shot a season-high 54.7 percent from the field in improving to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.

The Bronchos held a 48-18 scoring advantage in the paint, had assists on 24 of 35 made field goals and put five players in double figures in their highest-scoring game of the season.

"We were aggressive in going to the basket and did a nice job passing the ball," head coach Guy Hardaker said.  "We've played well the last couple of weeks and are getting contributions from a lot of different players."

Haley Weathers and McKenzie Solberg scored 14 points apiece to pace UCO, with Solberg hitting 4-of-5 shots from beyond the 3-point arc.  Chelsea Robinson had 12 points and seven rebounds, while Kylie Mayes and Olivia Mason had 11 points apiece.

O. Mason had a game-high six assists, with Solberg, Jordan Ward and Marley Anderson adding four each.

The game went back-and-forth the first nine minutes before Solberg put the Bronchos on top to stay with a 3-pointer from the top of the key that made it 18-16 with 10:50 left.

It was still a two-point lead at 23-21 with 9:27 remaining when UCO reeled off 18 unanswered points to break the game open.

O.Mason scored six points with a pair of treys, Mayes had five points and the Bronchos also got buckets Robinson, Solberg and Weathers in going on top 41-21 at the 4:09 mark.

The lead was still 20 (49-29) at intermission, with layups by Mayes and Ward to start the second half making it a 24-point cushion and ending any doubt that might have remained.

UCO cruised from there, with the lead peaking at 34 (88-54) on a short jumper by Ashley Stephens with 3:46 to play.

The Bronchos don't play again until going to Warrensburg, Mo. Dec. 18 to take on conference foe Central Missouri.
