UCO Tames Lions

JOPLIN, Mo. (Oct. 23) – Emily Precure scored six minutes into the game to give Central Oklahoma the early lead and the Bronchos went on to blank Southern 4-0 here Thursday night.
 
It was the 10th shutout of the season for the Bronchos, who improved to 10-3-2 on the season and 7-2-2 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play.  UCO moves on to Bolivar, Mo. Saturday to take on Southwest Baptist at 11 a.m.
 
"That was one of our most complete games of the season," head coach Mike Cook said.  "We had great possessions and did a good job finishing our chances.  We're making good strides."        
 
Precure put the Bronchos on top quickly were her third goal of the season at the 6:07 mark off an assist by Kenzie Sublett and UCO made it 2-0 in the 33rd minute when Sarah Purcell took a pass from Courtney Essary and booted in her first score of the year.
 
Paige Matacchiera pushed the advantage to 3-0 in the 65th minute with her second goal this season off an Emily Hahn assist and UCO's final score came with just over a minute remaining when Gabi Bochus knocked in her-team leading fifth goal of the year off a corner kick from Matacchiera.

Brandi Bartley made five saves while going the distance between the posts to pick up the shutout.
