UCO Blanks Lopers

Box Score

KEARNEY, Neb. (Oct. 10) –
Emily Precure scored the lone goal in the 72nd minute and Central Oklahoma's defense did the rest in a 1-0 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association victory over Nebraska-Kearney here Friday.

It was the fifth straight shutout and eighth of the season for the Bronchos, who improved to 8-2-1 overall and 5-1-1 in league play.

"We had a great team effort today and did a great job staying focused on the job at hand," head coach Mike Cook said.  "We dominated most of the game and came out with a good win."

UCO outshot the Lopers 10-3, but couldn't break a scoreless deadlock until Precure broke through with an unassisted score, knocking in a shot from 25 yards out from the right wing for her second goal of the season.

Defenders Ashley McDaniel, Miranda Thorne, Quinn Tookey and Courtney Cox led the way as the Bronchos kept UNK at bay and Brandi Bartley rejected the only two shots she faced between the posts to pick up her third shutout of the year.

UCO moves on to Hays, Kan. Sunday to face conference foe Fort Hays State at 12 p.m.
