UCO Announces 2012 Football Schedule

EDMOND (April 5) – Central Oklahoma will face a daunting schedule in 2012 when it plays in the rugged Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association for the first time, with the Bronchos set to meet four returning playoff teams.

All 10 games on the slate next fall will be conference contests, starting with the season- and home-opener on Thursday, Aug. 30 against Missouri Southern.  Game-time for the debut of first-year head coach Nick Bobeck will be 7 p.m. at Wantland Stadium.

The other nine games will be on Saturdays and the Bronchos will be open on Oct. 27.  Click here for the complete schedule

UCO's other home games will be Sept. 22 against Washburn, Oct. 6 against Northwest Missouri, Nov. 3 against Southwest Baptist and the Nov. 13 season finale against Northeastern State.

Washburn and NWMSU both made the Division II playoffs last season, with the Ichabods finishing 10-3 and the Bearcats – national champions in 2009 -- going 11-3.  NSU (6-4) and SBU (6-5) both had winning records in 2011, while MSSU went 3-7.

The Bronchos will make road trips to defending national champion Pittsburg State (Sept. 8), Emporia State (Sept. 15), Missouri Western (Sept. 29), Central Missouri (Oct. 13) and Lincoln (Oct. 27).

PSU put together a 13-1 record en route to winning the national title last year, beating Washburn and Northwest Missouri in the playoffs.  MWSU went 9-3 in making the playoffs last season, while UCM was 8-4.
