EDMOND (Feb. 16) --
Five players scored in double figures and Central Okahoma rode its defense to a 78-57 drubbing of Lindenwood Thursday night at Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos had 15 steals while forcing 33 turnovers and limited the Lions to 28.3-percent shooting from the field in staying perfect (6-0) at home and improving to 15-9 on the season in the opener of a season-ending three-game homestand.

UCO is back in action Saturday with a noon contest against McKendree -- a start time that has been moved up from 2 p.m. -- and then ends the season next Wednesday with Northeastern State.

"It was a little sloppy, but our defense was really good and we got contributions from a lot of different players," head coach Guy Hardaker said.  "The girls are playing really hard and we want to finish the season strong."

Jill Bryan led UCO's balanced attack with 15 points and three steals, while Savannah Hamilton and Heather Davis had 13 points and seven rebounds apiece.  The Bronchos also got 10 points each from Chelsea Robinson and Autumn Huffman, with Robinson adding a team-high five assists.

UCO trailed only once when the Lions hit the opening bucket of the game, with the Bronchos coming back to score eight straight points as Courtney Harper had a pair of layups, Robinson a fast-break layup off a Hamilton steal and Bryan two free throws.

The lead reached double digits at 16-6 when Bryan got a steal and fed Huffman for a fast-break layup at the 12:48 mark and it was a 15-point cushion (21-6) at 9:47 when Hamilton hit a short jumper.  UCO pushed its lead to 21 at 30-9 after Davis drilled a 3-pointer with 6:37 left in the half and the Bronchos were up 42-27 at intermission.

LU scored the first six points of the second half to pull within 42-33, but Bryan and Robinson scored five points apiece in a 10-0 run that pushed the lead back to 52-33 with 14:42 left to play and the Bronchos coasted in from there.
