UCO Rallies For Sixth Place FInish

SEASIDE, Calif. (March 29) --
Emily Leahey sparked a final-round rally that lifted Central Oklahoma to a sixth-place finish in the Lady Otter Spring Invitational here Tuesday.

The Bronchos knocked 13 shots off their Monday score with a closing 309 to jump from 11th to sixth in finishing two trips around the par-73 Black Horse Golf Course with a 633 total. Top-ranked Nova Southeastern took the 20-team tournament at 597, followed by host Cal State-Monterey Bay (614), California Baptist (616), Augusanta (628) and Sonoma State (632).

"I was proud of the way we came back and played today," UCO coach Michael Bond said. "We didn't play well yesterday, but we put that behind us and did a good job moving up the leader board today."

Leahey led the way with a final-round 75 that enabled her to finish 15th in the individual race with a 154 total.

The Bronchos also got 77s from freshman Chaney Uhles and Taylor Neidy, while Erica Bensch and Raelynn Farthing both shot 80. Uhles also finished in the top 20, tying for 18th at 156.

Mychael McWhorter shot an 82 playing as an individual to finish with a 158 total.
UCO is off next week before going to the TexAnn/Coca-Cola Classic April 11-12.
