DURANT, Okla. (March 27) –
Brittany Weaver's clutch two-run double capped a four-run seventh inning rally that lifted Central Oklahoma to a big 5-4 Lone Star Conference North Division triumph over Southeastern Oklahoma here Sunday afternoon.

The Bronchos took advantage of three SOSU errors in the final inning to overcome a 4-1 deficit and pitcher Amanda McClelland put the Savage Storm down in order in the bottom of the seventh to secure the much-needed win.

UCO improved to 15-14 on the year and 4-5 the LSC North by taking the final two games of the three-game series. SOSU dropped to 24-14 and 5-4.

“That was a game we really needed and it's a huge win for us,” UCO coach Genny Stidham said. “It wasn't pretty, but we found a way to get it done. Brittany came through with a big hit like she has so many times before and Amanda did a great job going out there and closing it out.”

The Bronchos appeared in trouble after SOSU scored three sixth-inning runs to break a 1-1 deadlock, but UCO loaded the bases in the seventh on Megan Bentley's lead-off double and back-to-back errors that allowed Hannah Justus and Kayce Raines to reach base.

A dropped fly ball in left field on what would have been the third out and the end of the game allowed two runs to score to give the Bronchos new life and Weaver followed with a line drive to the left-center field gap that scored the tying and go-ahead runs.

McClelland polished off her complete-game outing in the circle with a strikeout and two pop-ups in SOSU's final at bat to complete the comeback.

Bentley, Raines and Megan Whitmire had two hits apiece, with Raines' solo homer in the sixth accounting for UCO's other run.

The Bronchos return to action Tuesday with a doubleheader at Emporia State before going to San Angelo, Texas next weekend for the LSC Crossover Tournament.
