TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (March 9) –
Brittany Geter led off the top of the seventh inning with her first career home run to lift Central Okahoma to a 2-1 second-game victory over Northeastern State and give the Bronchos a Lone Star Conference North Division doubleheader sweep here Tuesday.

Molly Shivers pitched a six-hit shutout in a 3-0 first-game triumph before Geter came through in the nightcap as UCO improved to 11-5 on the year in the opener of league play.  The two teams meet again Saturday for a 1 p.m. twinbill in Edmond.

“It's always good to go on the road and win in the conference,” UCO coach Genny Stidham said.  “Both pitchers both threw well today and we did just enough offensively. Brittany had the big hit today and it was great to see her come through like that.”

Shivers struck out seven and walked three while scattering six hits in the opener in improving to 6-3 on the year.  Rachael Steverson moved to 4-2 by going the distance in the second game, giving up one run on six hits while fanning eight and walking three.

The Bronchos got the only run they would need in the first game in the fourth inning when Kelsie Deckard drew a lead-off walk, stole second and scored on a throwing error following Rachel Lowery's sacrifice bunt.

UCO made it 2-0 in the fifth on Edwards' RBI double that scored Kelsey Tiger, who had walked and went to second on a Kayce Raines sacrifice.  Deckard added an insurance run in the seventh with a run-scoring single.

Deckard, Raines and Shivers had two hits apiece to pace a nine-hit attack.

The RiverHawks led 1-0 through four innings of the second game before UCO tied it on the fifth on Raines' two-out homer to right-center field.

It stayed that way until the seventh when Geter belted her game-winning homer to left as the Bronchos prevailed despite finishing with just four hits.
