WICHITA FALLS, Texas (March 22) – Erica Bensch fired a 76 to lead Central Oklahoma to the first day lead in the Midwestern State Invitational here Monday.

The Bronchos shot a 321 at the par-72 Weeks Park Golf Course, good for a two-stroke lead over host Midwestern State and Northwood heading into Tuesday's final round.  West Texas A&M is fourth in the 12-team tourney at 324 and Newman fifth at 325.

Bensch's 76 paved the way, with the Bronchos also getting 81s from Mychael McWhorter and Cassy Knight while Raelynn Farthing had an 83 and Maria Jimenez an 88.  Mary Sue Sample shot 83 and Emily Leahey 91 playing as individual medalists.

“We played solid today from tee to green,” UCO coach Michael Bond said.  “We need to go out and play the way we know how tomorrow because we have a lot of good teams right behind us and we can't let up.”
