EDMOND (Feb. 13) --
Ashley Beckley scored six of her team-high 20 points in a game-opening surge that put Central Oklahoma in control and the Bronchos went on to an 87-66 Lone Star Conference North Division drubbing of Cameron Saturday night at Hamilton Field House.

The Bronchos bolted to a 14-0 lead four minutes into the contest and never trailed in winning for the eighth straight time, tied for the second-longest winning streak in school history.  UCO improved to 18-5 on the year and 9-1 in league play to remain tied for the lead with Northeastern State.

UCO shot just 39.4 percent (28-of-71) for the game, but had assists on 24 of those baskets and also hit 22-of-27 free throws (81.5 percent) while outrebounding the Aggies 49-35 and committing a season-low 10 turnovers.

Beckley was 6-of-13 from the field and 8-of-11 from the line in her 20-point outing and added a game-high eight rebounds.  Cristina Yarbrough was the only other player in double figures with 15 points and she also had six assists against just one turnover.

Eleven of UCO's 12 players scored in the rout, with Brianne Grisham and Jill Bryan adding nine points apiece.

"We got off to a great start and played pretty well, even though we missed a lot of easy shots," UCO coach Guy Hardaker said.  "It was a good win for us and we're just concentrating on trying to get better every day."

The Bronchos took little time in seizing control, with Beckley hitting a pair of layups and a short jumper while Rose Anderson added a 3-pointer in a 14-0 run to open the game.  CU got within 10 at 23-13 before UCO came back to build a trio of 18-point leads, the last one at 40-22 on a Beckley layup with 2:25 remaining.

The Aggies ended the half with an 8-0 spurt to pull within 10 (40-30) at the break as the Bronchos missed their last three shots and turned the ball over twice.

Cameron cut the margin to six on three occasions early in the second half, the final time at 49-43 with 15:12 left to play.  UCO responded with nine unanswered points, with a three-point play by Grisham capping that spurt to give the Bronchos a 15-point edge at 58-42 with 13:06 remaining.

The Aggies tried to stay in the game and got the deficit back to eight (62-54) at the 9:54 mark, but UCO soon pulled away and cruised in with the lopsided win.
