UCO Tied For Third

KINGSTON, Okla. (Oct. 5) -- Dillon Rust fired back-to-back 73s to spark Central Oklahoma on the first day of the Texoma Championship, with the Bronchos tied for third after the opening 36 holes.

UCO had a first-round 308 at the 7,085-yard, par-72 Chickasaw Pointe Golf Course before trimming 13 shots off that with an afternoon 295 in finishing at 603.  Northwood leads the 10-team tournament at 581, with Cameron second at 596 and the Bronchos and host Southeastern Oklahoma tied for third.

Final-round play begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Rust had 23 pars and six birdies in his consecutive one-over-par rounds that has him fifth in the individual race at 146.  Matt Charlson followed up an opening-round 76 with an even-par 72 and is tied for seventh with a 148 total.

UCO also got rounds of 78-76 from Andrew Green, 82-74 from Zach Cleland and 81-77 from Colin MorganTrevor Stafford (78-77) and Derek Franco (85-84) played as individuals for the Bronchos.

"Dillon was steady all day and really carried us, especially this morning when we really struggled," UCO coach Dax Johnston said.  "I was proud of the way we didn't get down on ourselves and bounced back this afternoon, they showed a lot of fight and that's what I like about this team."
