Samantha Carter

Samantha Carter joined the University of Central Oklahoma in May 2024 and serves as an assistant athletic trainer covering volleyball and softball. 

Carter, originally from Poteau, Okla., s
upervises practices, weights, scrimmages and games, performs initial injury evaluations and treatments, documents injuries, treatments, and rehabilitations programs, and also serves as a preceptor to athletic training students in the universities master of athletic training program.

Additionally, Carter currently serves as an athletic trainer for Team USA Softball, where she had held a role since 2016. Carter works with the men's and women's national teams, and the men's and women's junior national teams. She travels the world with these teams and has been to New Zealand, Colombia, Argentina, Japan, Ireland, and France, providing athletic training coverage and services.

Before coming to Central Oklahoma, Carter was a full-time athletic trainer in Lexington, Kentucky floating between two colleges - Midway University and Asbury University - and multiple high schools in the Lexington area providing athletic training services.

Carter holds certifications in dry needling level 1, and graston technique. She is a member of OATA (Oklahoma Athletic Trainers Association) and also volunteers ATC at the United States Olympic and Paralympic training center in Colorado Springs. Carter served as a professor teaching five courses including a
dministration of athletic training, sport and exercise pharmacology, general medical conditions, health and wellness, and care and prevention of athletic injuries. 

Carter, who graduated from Howe High School, received her associate's degree from Carl Albert State College in 2011, her bachelor's degree from Northeastern State in 2013, and her master's degree from Central Oklahoma in 2015.
