Biography

Division I transfer expected to push for extended playing time . . . Was the main catcher at West Virginia for two years before sitting out last season and is a fine defender behind the plate . . . Will obviously vie for action at catcher and could also see time at designated hitter.
 
WVU:  Played in 41 games with 35 starts as a freshman in 2010, hitting .255 with three home runs and 14 runs batted in . . . Had a .289 average with seven doubles, three homers and 15 RBI in 2011 while starting in 35 of 40 games played . . . Made just seven career errors in 447 fielding chances with the Mountaineers.
 
High School:  Two-All-Conference pick and an Under Armour All-America selection as a senior at Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati.
 
Personal:  General studies major looking to become a strength coach . . . Grandfather (Robert Malloy) played major league baseball for the Cincinnati Reds . . . Names the Reds as his favorite professional team . . . Birthdate is Aug. 15, 1990.
