Matt Jones joined the University of Central Oklahoma baseball staff in 2020 as a graduate assistant coach and coaches the Broncho outfielders.

He helped Central to a 25-21 record in 2021, making it to the MIAA Championship consolation finals. 

Jones, originally from Omaha, Neb., originally went to the University Nebraska to play baseball before transferring to Hutchinson (Kan.). He played one semester there and then was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 25th round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft. Jones played in the minors for four years before returning to Hutchinson to play football. He played the 2018 fall season there and then went to Midwestern State to play one season of football in Wichita Falls, Texas in 2019.

This past summer, Jones coached for the Hutchinson Monarchs in the Sunflower Collegiate League and helped the team finish third in the NBC World Series.

He is studying Kinesiology.
